You can go 3 weeks without food, but only 3 days without water.
That is a scary fact when you think about it. Your body can survive 3 times longer without food than water.
Fortunately, for those in North America, clean drinking water can be found virtually everywhere and is easily accessible through your homes, restaurants, stores and shops. If the drinking water is un safe from the tap, boiling the water or using a water purification system solves that problem.
But what about those who don’t have access to clean drinking water? What about those who can’t put a pot of water on the stove to boil the contaminants out?
This is the reality for many of those living in poverty in Africa. The little water they do have is so contaminated it causes the drinker to become ill, and possibly die from the bacteria. It is a Catch 22. If they don’t drink the water, they will die because their body needs water to survive. If they drink the water, they have a high probability of getting an infection and dying anyway.
The good news is, there is something that can be done about it.
The better news is, you can be a part of that change.
Currently, ITH Charities is supporting many Bore Hole projects in the Southern province of Zambia. Bore holes are holes made underground to tap into the naturally flowing water. Equipped with a pump and filtration system the residents of Zambia are provided with clean drinking water.
We can’t do this on our own and that is where you can help. Many people are unable to drop everything and go to Zambia to assist with this project. Instead we have made it easy for you to donate by clicking below.
You can donate $1, $5, $100, the amount doesn’t matter. What matters is the fact that you are improving the lives of children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers in Zambia and surrounding areas.
Thank you for helping make a difference.
